Cao Nguyen Coffee Factory Joint Stock Company organizes the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Cao Nguyen Coffee Roasting Factory on October 6th at Phu My II Industrial Zone, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. This is a coffee roastery factory that has received significant investment and meets international standards.

The Highlands Coffee® brand was established in 1999 with the ambition of elevating Vietnam's long-standing coffee heritage and promoting a sense of national pride, while harmoniously connecting tradition and modernity. Throughout its continuous development, the number of Highlands Coffee stores has reached nearly 700 in Vietnam and over 50 in the Philippines as of September 2023.

Highlands Coffee has invested nearly VND500 billion to construct a coffee roastery factory at Phu My II Industrial Zone, a key economic zone in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. Covering an area of up to 24,000 square meters, the factory could produce nearly 10,000 tons of coffee per year in the first phase and up to 75,000 tons of coffee per year in the following phases.

The coffee roasting plant, the largest of its kind in the province and Vietnam alike, will be fully equipped with world-class integrated processing lines, and comply with operational standards such as FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and HACCP, as well as adopting lean manufacturing and 6 sigma quality improvement models. All of which helps to strengthen Highlands Coffee’s market leadership in terms of Vietnamese specialty coffee production in the country while expanding its export within the region as well as the world.

Notably, the new factory will be constructed with strict environmental protection requirements, aiming to achieve LEED Certification for "green architecture" and BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification for ensuring food safety. Solar energy equipment using Japanese and Swiss technology will be installed at the factory to minimize costs and reduce the national power grid load. Furthermore, it is one of the major plants in Vietnam participating in the sustainable coffee project from harvesting to final products (Global Coffee Platform).

"This will be a modern, state of the art factory, that uses the best in breed international equipment combined with a manufacturing design that embraces Vietnamese blending and flavoring processes. With an ambition to grow to thousands of stores in Vietnam and beyond, this factory will be a pillar for our ambition of championing Vietnamese coffee culture. Because, bringing the best of Vietnam to our local communities and to the world is our “why”. This is our mission.  This our identity,” said Mr. David Thai, Founder and CEO of Highlands Coffee, at the groundbreaking ceremony.

2.

Phu My Town is currently a strategic economic focal point, with five key economic sectors identified for development in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province: industry, seaports, port-related services, tourism, and high-tech agriculture. By choosing the trading gateway between Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the key economic region in the south and international markets to build a coffee roasting and grinding factory, Highlands Coffee has demonstrated its vision and determination to create a boost for the coffee import-export industry and bring significant economic benefits to the local area. When operational, the coffee roasting company is expected to create numerous job opportunities for local workers, contribute to social stability, increase GDP and export turnover for Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province specifically, and Vietnam as a whole.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Highlands Coffee’s coffee roasting factory today is one of many concrete actions to propel Vietnamese coffee forward in the international market.
